Weekly Training Update!

Another week closer to race day! I really can't believe that I only have one week of actual training before taper week!

I'm not nervous.  Mostly just excited, and I can't wait to see my family again.

As you can see below, I've skimped on (or completely skipped) some of my runs, and bagged some of the cross-trains.  Sometimes, life takes over and there's no room to take a spin class or get to the pool.  That's just how it goes.  But, I've been consistent enough in my running to know that I'll be just fine on race day.

Fingers crossed.

When I went home and did the group run with My Sista and my cousin, My Sista and I determined that we could technically cut out one run from our schedule at the end of the week so that we would have 2 full rest days before our long run.  This was in an effort to run better on our long runs, and to hopefully avoid overtraining or injury.  It was beginning to feel like torture to run Monday-Thursday, take off on Friday, cross train on Saturday, then do my long run on Sunday.  That's a lot of running, and very little rest.

It was feeling like overkill, and I was dreading most of my runs.

I didn't want to hate my running schedule.  Toning it down for the past 2 weeks has been a welcome change, and I don't feel like my training has suffered for it.

This week's long run will be 10 miles on Saturday.  It'll be my longest run since The Frederick 1/2!
