Friday Fancy: Ribbon Tree

Since I'm a crafty lady, I've decided to start talking about some of my craft and decorating projects.  I'll try not to bore the hail out of you with talk of paper, sewing, cutting, painting and such, but I'm warning you now that you might want to skip Friday's post if you are not a fan of crafts. Since our craft room/man cave is fully operational now, I've started collecting projects.  I have so many ideas and so little time.  I blame it on my Mother.  Her craft room was overflowing so much that she literally had to move it to a larger room in the house.  Unfortunately, I don't have that luxury, since all of our 1,100 square feet is accounted for.

I have about 200 square feet of space in which to get crafty, and it's plenty.  It's cozy.

I'll share pix with you soon, but I just wanted you to know that this weekend, I'll be a) painting stripes in my kitchen, and b) making an adorable Christmas tree decoration that I found on the Michael's website.

Materials needed (taken from the link above):

  • Styrofoam® Cone, 3-inch x 11-inch
  • Assorted Ribbons
  • Sequin Pins
  • Scissors
  • Ruler

  • Cut ribbon into 4-inch pieces.
  • Starting at the base of the cone, fold ribbon pieces in half and use sequin pins to attach to the cone, placing each loop next to the previous loop.
  • Continue until cone is completely covered with ribbon loops.

I'm considering this the first project in my new "She's Crafty" series.  I'm very excited to try this because it looks very simple, yet cute!

And now, I'm off to JoAnn Fabric's to buy the supplies!

Are you going to get crafty this weekend?
